After a few weeks, she started getting the hang of it and would go to the bathroom outside without me having to take her outside. The only time she would need to go outside was if she didn’t go potty after breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
I then started teaching her to go to the bathroom in the house. I put down pee pads in strategic locations, and rewarded her with a treat when she went potty on the pad. I also made sure to take her for a walk every day, so she could relieve herself whenever she needed to.
After a few weeks, she started getting the hang of it and would go to the bathroom on the pee pads without me having to put them down. The only time she would need to go on a pee pad was if she didn’t go potty after breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
It’s been a few months now, and she’s been potty trained for a while, and she hasn’t had any accidents. I’m glad I was able to potty train her using this method, and I hope it helps you potty train your 4 year old dog too.
How To Train Dog Potty Train

How To Train Adult Dog Potty Pad
There is a right and wrong way to potty train your adult dog. If done incorrectly, your dog may never learn how to properly potty outside. If done correctly, your dog can be potty trained in a matter of days.
The most important part of potty training is being consistent. You must take your dog out to potty every time they eat, drink, and play. Also, take them out immediately after they wake up, after every nap, and after every car ride.
You will also need a potty pad. Place the potty pad in an area where your dog has frequented before. If your dog has not yet potty trained, place the potty pad in an area where you want your dog to potty.
When your dog is ready to potty, lead them to the potty pad and say “potty.” If your dog goes potty on the pad, praise them and give them a treat. If your dog does not go potty on the pad, take them outside and try again.
Repeat this process until your dog consistently goes potty on the pad. Once your dog is potty trained, you can slowly move the potty pad to a different area.
How Old For Dogs To Be Potty Trained
There is no definitive answer to this question since dogs of different breeds grow at different rates and some dogs may take longer than others to be potty trained. A general rule of thumb, however, is that a dog is typically considered potty trained when it is able to hold its bladder and bowels until it is able to go outside to relieve itself. For most dogs, this occurs sometime between 6 and 8 months of age.
