In order to work with clients as a Certified Michigan Dog Trainer, there are a few key skills and strategies you will need to be successful.

First, it’s important that you are patient and empathetic with each client and the dog they have. As trainers, one of your main goals should always be to build trust between human and canine pairs. It is crucial that you take the time to understand the plight of each client’s situation so that you can use positive reinforcement training methods to effectively teach new behaviors.

Second, it is important that you provide clear instruction in helping clients reach their goals. This could include breaking larger skills down into smaller steps so that both the client and their dog are able to reach their objective more quickly and efficiently. It is also important here to demonstrate how each step should look for reinforcement purposes, before asking the client to do it themselves.

Thirdly, make sure that both verbal cues and physical cues (feeling for pressure on a leash) are utilized in order for clients too easily understand how their dog is responding. This will help ensure that progress is being made consistently by all involved in the training process.

Finally, remember always remain flexible as you work with your various clients as no two dogs or owners learn at exactly the same rate or in exactly the same way! Patience and understanding between trainer and owners leads ultimately creates engaged learning environment helps promote mutual trust between human-canine pairs which ultimately leads to improved results overall. With this combination of skills, certified Michigan dog trainers have a great chance at success in helping pet owners achieve their training goals!
